Thanks for sharing, Claire! Today I've gone through and added all of my tags to my previous posts, added recommendations and a small note as to why I recommend each writer, and I've added my blurbs to my homepage! 🤍

You might consider doing podcast interviews with Creators specific to tips around the platforms they use to develop community and drive growth. Have you seen the interviews of Chenell Basilio?

Thanks so much, Claire for all your helpful tips. I feel overwhelmed at first but then I'm also inspired by your slow, experimental, imperfect way of showing up with creativity and Substack. That's what I've been doing and trying stuff out when I'm drawn to it. So at some point I'll get to stuff and that's a-ok x

Thank you this was very helpful!

You demystified the ‘tags’ thing for me in a way that was sorely needed

So many wonderful tips here Claire, thanks for sharing. I am finding Susbtack a challenge to keep up with - there are so many brilliant and authentic lovely people to follow and read that it feels like a full time job. Not to mention the commitment to writing myself... feeling the self imposed pressure! 😩

I also didn't realize I had 3 blurbs already and needed to "turn them on." (Thanks for yours!) One afternoon I will have to sit down with a cup of tea and write some of my own. I've been meaning to do it, but it keeps slipping my mind. Would be nice to make a little weekly ritual of doing it. There are so many great Substacks to recommend.

Oh dear. I don't think I have bandwidth to redesign my newsletter for "dark mode" right now. 🤦 I'm pretty sure because of the font / design / color choice in my header images they wouldn't work well on a dark background even if they were transparent. Will circle back to that later, but surely all websites don't transition neatly to dark mode anyway?

So many helpful tips! Thank you so much! It hadn't occurred to me that some people would be viewing in night mode 🤦🏻‍♀️

I haven't tackled tags yet, I thought they were like old school blogging but you describe them as different to that. So a bit more investigating to go!

These are great tips Claire! Haven’t had a nosy around using tags yet but I will. To be honest, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by Substack lately 🙈 They have made so many changes in the past few weeks and it seems a bit “noisy”. I know it’s just me and I will have to just ease into it but for now, I am going to just take it slow 🌿

SO many great tips here, Claire! Thank you so much for sharing. I love your page breaks, it's always hard for me to remember to put things in with a transparent background! I do have a question if you don't mind answering, what size do you put your page breaks as? I've been messing around with making some on Canva and I can not get the sizing right when I upload here. Thank you again, this was wonderfully helpful!

Great tips! I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to best use my tags (and how many I want to use) but I don't know that I'm ready to go through tag ALL of my past posts. We'll see. My summer projects are growing too much 😂

Thank you Claire! Here is my question which might need to be a topic of a full post rather than a comment. That do I actually do to have a persons name in my post that is a clickable link to their Substack? When you reference the other writers I can go directly to them. I have not been able to get that to work properly so am missing something.

Thanks so much for the shoutout, Claire! That sneaky kitten is in so much trouble now! 😼✨

So much information and knowledge here, Claire! I still haven't gotten my head around tags and I'm okay with that for the moment.

You now know a fourth person reading with a black background ;) Great tip about the breakers. That's definitely on my to-do list, to personalise my line breakers. As for what I've learned, or shall I say discovered in the last week, are the headers and footers, and I finally saw the value of them. So I went and finally wrote them all for the different versions and I'm feeling really good about them. I'm feeling like, after almost a year on Substack, things are finally starting to come together. And it makes sense as that is how I go through life, by testing stuff out and seeing what works. ❤️
