Good morning members,
Iāve written a really special post for you today on the ābehind the scenesā of my business topic. Itās about consciously self seeding my business for a WHOLE year and what I learnt. I hope that it serves you and you have questions to ask.
By self seeding my business I mean;
diversifying my income streams
trying new models and ways of working
deciding on a particularly wild growing flower to tame (
) šølearning about myself in the picture of āsalesā.
leaning into rejection.
coming back to centre and reviewing it
I have other posts on this topic here. The intention behind āself seeding my businessā was always to teach it to others. The concept it that the wild flowers can take care of themselves and you bring your time and energy back to centre; to pause, to the things you love outside of your work. I wanted (and needed) to work from home so thatās what I did.

If you donāt know much about my career, Iām a graduate of an āarts degreeā - a degree lots of people (including my course mates) referred to as āMickey Mouseā. A degree but not a āproperā degreeā¦ My degree is in āFilm, TV, Literature and Theatreā and I have worked across all of those industries in the last twenty something years.
I quickly dismissed tv and film as options; the drawn out schedules and extra shots and time warps didnāt suit my energy.
My ālucky breakā came when I was invited to work on a pilot multi-arts festival for children and young people as a āfreelancerā in 2008. It felt like Iād come home. I was truly free. Had (for the first time), a supportive and caring director and a huge playground of arts venues to programme with a budget of Ā£170k. We won two awards; the work was fantastic, the audiences and participants delighted.
When I fell pregnant with my first child in 2013, my husband was transitioning from working overseas for months at a time so we could build our family. I gave up the festival work and brought everything in to be much smaller. I knew I wanted to stay self employed but I knew nothing of ābusinessā.
