An invite for a gentle check in / reset this Autumn for yourself and your creative business...
Hi - if you’re new here. I’m Claire. I’m a Creative who also likes to write and an Engagement Consultant and Mentor. I live in an ex-miners cottage under dark skies on the Northumberland coast with my husband, two children and our 6 pet chickens. 🐓
We (try to) live life in the slow lane. This is a weekly series of posts that come out on Thursday lunch time each week to explore the concept of whole hearted living and slow-lived entrepreneurialism.

shared a technique called ‘The More and Less’ list with me this week.I instantly knew I wanted had to to write one… This wasn’t the post I planned to share this week. Instead, this was the spontaneous one I wanted to share as an invite to ask;
What do you really want more and less of in your life right now?
If you run your own business, your self employed or you plug into anything creative for work perhaps you’re a fan of lists too? I try to do a “head emptying” list every single day - it makes for a more purposeful way through. ✨
Perhaps you sometimes find there is TOO much to do and too little time will to keep showing up for all the things?
Personally, September is a hard month for transitions for us all so we are being gentle and taking baby steps towards the big vision.
My More and Less List - Autumn ‘23 (an extract)
Personal, social, emotional
More…time with each of my children separately - this has been a huge breakthrough for me recently.
More time in nature - I can’t get enough but often it falls to the bottom of the pile.
More time in wellbeing experiences - I need to move from them being a special occasion to a weekly occurrence… so I’ve booked the next four Fridays with friends at our local spa.
Less time thinking about cooking food and what everyone needs to eat.
More time baking things that bring my inner child to life.
More movies, less screen time.
More coconut water
More sleep
More naps
More chocolate (the good kind)
More cosy, more adventure, more love, more compassion, more space, more expansive spaces…
Work
Less complex projects with less moving parts.
More consistency, routine and consultancy.
More considered ‘showing up’ online - I think I am pretty boundaried with socials but when I was chatting with
as a podcast guest for recently, I realised I need LESS time on Substack Notes - it’s bamboozling my brain.More time setting up my new laptop - gosh isn’t a laptop like a second-self? My old one is so so done with life and all the things but passwords are a headache and I don’t know many of them. 😵💫
More connection and less ‘to-dos’.
Less overwhelm, more purpose.
Soul Work
More soul work. I need to book in that call with
on Human Design as just the spark of it lights me up - I think I’ll love spending time there.More holding space in one to one calls. 🥰
More journalling in notebooks and with all the colours that delight my spirit.
More community and taking part whole heartedly in it.
I’m on my way!More yoga and meditation…
More time to daydream, to gaze out of high windows, to make space for what feels joyous in a season that somehow already became difficult…
More flowers, more loungewear, more time.
More sunrises, less rain.

Human Design has been truly transformative for me. I hope you managed to hook up with Lauren on this.
I think I need less worrying about others and more cherishing myself.
Less winging it with my work and more strategy.
Definitely need more rest and light and warmth.
More relaxation. Less thinking about the future and more presence.
More conscious awareness of my body and more acceptance and love of my limits.
More play time and fun. Less seriousness
1 on 1 time with my kids is something that gives me so much - they connect, share, they appreciate when you're devoted just to them. Precious!
