Ways into Journalling - 3 free Workshops with me this Winter season
Writing the subconscious into the conscious
To celebrate my new creativity and planning journal I have scheduled two ‘Ways into Journalling’ workshops on zoom.
You can attend live or watch the recording - (I’ll post the recording here). They are free and a gift of thanks to my lovely online communities. You’re so welcome.
Why Journal
Why not?! Perhaps understanding some of your barriers might help? I often hear - I don’t know where to start or what would I write about. Also my spellings terrible - mine too - I don’t let it stop me.
The biggest reason to start…
In a world of constant demands, journalling is a place JUST for you.
Did you write when you were younger? Perhaps you’ve seen some of the gorgeous bullet journal spreads and you’d like to know more about how it might serve you?
I’ve been journalling since I could write. I used to copy out pages of story books I liked, write fiction, lists, letters, you name it I wrote it as a kid. Then onto diaries with locks as a teenager. I don’t have any of them now but I do have travel journals from trips taken in my twenties. I keep them on a shelf in my wardrobe - they are super precious and something I hope to pass on to the kids. Maybe they’ll follow my adventures.
Journalling for mental wellbeing
Journalling has increased in popularity this last few years. It’s also been scientifically proven to increase our wellbeing. There are lots of studies and theories but for me the proof is literally in the pudding. It makes me FEEL better than I did when I started so I carry on untangling the thoughts, the threads and finding my creative voice.
In a recent women’s circle I held, I set the following prompts;
What do you need more of? - think nourishment
What can you put down? - be it temporarily or permanently
What can you let go of?
These three simple questions brought a lot to the surface and helped us all decide on next steps as we headed into a new moon phase… The interesting thing about this type of journalling is that you are exploring feelings bubbling up to the surface but there are always surprises and breakthroughs!
We’ve seen many new types of journals and notebooks hit the mass market and lots of indie businesses selling gorgeous planers and notebooks on their etsy shops.
Hit #journalling on instagram for more inspiration.
Just write
One of the biggest barriers to journalling is just putting pen to page. The most recent journal I’ve created allows you to tear pages out. It’s purposeful to allow for the pages to be processed in the fire or framed or scrumpled up! It belongs to you.
There are always more plain pages to start again - a process I actively encourage.
Where to buy your journals and pens
Honestly they are everywhere - high street shops like Paperchase and even the bigger supermarkets have them.
If you want to add something really special to your Christmas list try;
Martha Brook - I really recommend their personalised journals. My mum got me one for my birthday.
If you want to shop independent and support small businesses have a look on etsy or buy one of my creativity and productivity journals for you or a friend or both using the links below;
I use these pens.

I’ll post the recordings here afterwards. In the first workshop we’ll cover four different ways into journalling. In the second I’ll share my planning tools for planning your 23/24 holistically. Think work goals, intent setting, much joy and an (more) organised life.
So tell me, are you going to put pen to paper this week? What are you writing?
