Such a great post - thanks, Claire and Lyndsay!

Life on the road is brilliant, although I'm not sure how we'd cope with being full-time van-lifers - and I'm (still!) in total awe of your 4x4 + roof tent combo! Our campervan represents both work and play, and when the former takes us far from home, as it so often does, we make sure to tack a day or two onto the trip to allow for the latter. 😊

Hi Kat! I'm glad you enjoyed reading ☺️

Travelling Aus in a roof top tent sounds amazing. We are due to head to Morocco next week in ours which I'm very excited for!

The UK really isn't set up for van life. Although I know there are a few out there. You can't wildcamp (except Scotland which is a pretty cool place to wildcamp) and you can't get easy access to water or to other services. You have to stay in campsites which can be overpriced. It isn't ideal with it being so densely populated and yes, the weather also does play a big part! Europe is far better equipped (the majority anyway) ☺️

Love a good van life post. My sister is currently traveling aus in a rooftop tent also.

I am SO here for people living life a little differently. Australia has a HUGE van life culture here, it’s super normal. Though I haven’t seen much over in the UK - I assumed from weather?

I have two good friends I've known for 20 or 25 years (or maybe longer) who did exactly this, but in North America! They named their van "Van Halen", and souped up an old-school A-Team style van (80s, blocky) by crafting a little sink in there and some other amenities. Eventually, they had to replace it with a new van after having the transmission go out twice! Quite an adventure.

Haha I like the sound of that! I would absolutely love to tour America one day. It's on the bucket list for sure.

Oh what fun!! I wonder if there are many books about it? I’d love to read a book of the story from start to end. I saw them everywhere travelling Aus in my 20s!

I've looked at books before but I can't seem to find any - they seem to be more around the process of the build and living the "van lie" as opposed to the travelling and the adventures. If you do find any though, let me know as I would love to read a book of that kind too! ☺️

Maybe I can get my friends to write something down. I agree- beginning to end, it's a really interesting thing to do! Sharing that experience with others would be valuable.

Hello Lyndsay! Loved what you said here: “A perfect Sunday is absent from the dread of the impending week ahead and instead is filled with hope and wonder for what is to come”. Perfect description! 💛✨

Hey Mackenzie! I'm glad you enjoyed reading! That description is my absolute goal, especially when the travelling starts to slow and we have to go back to some kind of normality 💜

What a fun read, I can relate so well with Lynsey’s travel adventures! I'm actually replying from the road as we head to Brittany, France in our van. We just filled up our water and are covering some distance before we begin searching for a place to park for the night near the coast. While we've been doing this for many years, it's only in the last couple of years that we've customized it to our liking, and it has truly become our little home away from home 💛

I guess I do by sharing photos from our travels but I try to mix it with sharing my art and painting on the go. Feel free to check my post, love to know what you think, here’s an example: https://susanjimenez.substack.com/p/summers-end-navigating-the-return

Fabulous. It’s great to be connected to someone living my dream 🤩 though I too am living a dream life in a static caravan on 200 acres of land. The travel is there in drive and drabs and nationwide when not Europe/beyond 😃

Love being connected they had a van to start with and read through all the steps to the 4 by 4 ✨

Unsubscribes every time someone shares about living their dream life, what it entails and what it took to get them there? WOW🤔
