Really loved this. I know it's now old, but when I read about your word Bloom I had to discover more. Gosh how I wish I had done this at the start of the year, but actually maybe it couldn't have come at a better time as the word that popped into my head as I was journalling is - Commitment. Commitment to my health, exercising regularly, choosing healthy food that nourishes my body. Commitment to my new Substack writing as it really does bring me a great deal of joy. Commitment to finish our home and move in mid-year. Commitment to my clients and keep pushing their projects forward. Commitment to myself above all else, to listen to my body, soul and mind. To look after myself so I can look after my family and friends. Amazing thanks claire xox
Hi Claire, found my way here through Substack recommendations and loving your vibe. Your words of the year feels really expansive. I hope it'll serve you well, even if you do end up forgetting it. :) I've landed on four words really but they all nourish each other: delight, devotion, dedication and discipline. 2023 is a year I'll deepen my roots of creativity through a disciplined devotion and dedication to my delight. We'll see how it guides me through it. Lots of love, Silvia. :)
Oh beautiful!! Thanks Silvia! ✨✨ ah the word “devotion” has me so starry eyed!! I love how yours are all connected! I had prism in 2021 I think or maybe 2020 that was a trip!!
Thanks for being here and sorry for the delay in replying - I’ve somehow turned off comment notification/ emails and can’t fathom how to get them back on! ✨✍️💫
Prism, wow, intriguing. Makes me think of multicoloured scenes, kinda like those glasses you look through that create these weird and wonderful images. As for the notifications, head to your Dashboard, then Notifications, and you'll find it under there. :)
Yea that’s exactly it! 👓 💎 Ok thanks Silvia I feel like I’ve been there many times and it’s not letting me switch it back but I do get 1000s of comment like a from spammers when I join office hours 😭
I love the word bloom! Im so happy with my word unleash and have just connected to it for the first time - I’m here in Thailand to unleash the inner writer in me in a new way. No writing (other than Journalling) has commenced yet but it’s coming!! Also, encouraged my new friend to create a word of the year and he came up with adventure (my first word of the year the other year!!)
I adore that you have a new friend already!! I LOVE unleash for you - I just find it so powerful for you... have you done a card pull yet? That’s my job for this afternoon! I need a way to remember it so think I’m going to use my phone notes more this year to help me track back. ✨🙌🏻⚡️⚡️⚡️✉️🥳
I’m just so pleased I joined Substack last year. I’m loving the writing and the wonderful people that I find when following the comments. Thankyou for such a great post. I think my word for 2023 will be PUSH. I need to push through and get my PhD finished this year! 2024 might well be RELAX!
Your 'Ways into Creative Journalling' course yesterday afternoon was really valuable - thank you so much for giving your time and expertise so generously! I really appreciated it, and feel very engaged with the year to come. I'm hoping to join you on the 8th, too!
I don't have a word for the year - it's not something I've ever really done - perhaps I'll have a bit of a think about it. I'm not sure I can just go with 'Keep B******** On', as Churchill so wisely put it, can I?! Seriously, having reflected on it during and after yesterday's workshop, I'm going to give it some serious thought.
Aww thanks for coming along and for writing Rebecca. Do you follow Susannah Conway? She has a whole (free) process on how to find your word. Before I found her I used to set monthly intents and reflect on those... there was always much motivation and magic to be found. For me the word is really an anchor, a reminder of the essence of the route I want to be on. I’ve found it particularly important with self employed life as there are always so many variables! Hope to see you on the 8th, that would be so lovely! ✨✍️🙌🏻
Oh thanks Minna!! I live with a view of the North Sea I’m very lucky! I tend to try and drive to the beach to give this newsletter space to come to life. This month we had a VERY short walk on Boxing Day as my daughter found the wind too bracing! 🌊 sunrises are particularly beautiful here in winter. Happy New Year to you!
The North Sea. I spent one summer on the Faroe Islands and took a very rocky boat ride from one island to another on the North Sea. It was absolutely beautiful and reminded me of childhood fairy tales. I grew up in Finland near the much calmer Baltic Sea. Now I live in the tropics near the Atlantic coast. Happy New Year!
I love transform - it’s so multi layered isn’t it. Bloom just found me I really feel like it’s going to be such a beautiful space to spend time... and that timely reminder that in the here and now we are allowed to be still and sleepy. ❄️ Happy New Year to you Michelle. 🙌🏻💫

Thanks, Claire! I do follow Susannah Conway but I haven't dived into the word process - heading over there right now! Thank you so much!
Yay! I print her Unravel your Year workbook and fill it in each year too - they are so interesting to look back on.
Absolutely love the title “Notes from the sea”!
