Thank you for the words for new Writer’s like me, “There’s no rush, no need for comparison to creep in… you’re arrived, you are safe and it’s all going to be SO beautiful. There is a spot for you and so much joy is incoming!” 😇 and always beautiful photography 🥰
This is such a wonderful post! There are so many incredible voices here who are finding a whole new way to connect and create, and even emotionally invest in each other. Hoping Substack can stay a supportive, nurturing space into the next year.
I’m so glad you didn’t turn off the comments, Claire! Reading this is like delving into one of those wonderful bumper Christmas specials - a collection of Christmas Crackers, in fact. Perfect post for this time of year - now my only issue is where to start.... thanks again everyone for all the recommendations.
Well this is absolutely beautiful, what a collection and I’m so honoured to see my publication here. I’m so very grateful to this space and what it’s brought me in 2023. Thank you! Xxx
This is such a wonderfully put together piece, thank you. My intention for 2024 is to be much more mindful of what I consume on my phone and I'm going to be using Substack as a way to curate and nourish my reading, away from the lure of Instagram and Threads. I'll definitely be checking out the writers here that I don't already know but thank you for emphasising that there's no rush. It's tempting to want to rush through them all at once rather than accepting that it's a slower process
The most joyous read and round up, thank you and Kat for this beautiful idea and for putting it together. Sooo honoured to be mentioned within this gorgeous celebration amongst so many writers I love and admire. Grateful to you both and to Lauren Barber for her generous support in suggesting my post xx
What a beautiful post, Claire, jam-packed with THE most STUNNING recommendations - I'm going to be very busy checking them all out!
And golly gosh, thank you such a lot for linking to me - it has meant such a lot to me to have been described as your 'first true reading love here' - let's just say that it's a good job I had a hankie up my sleeve when I read that this morning! What an awesome thing to say - thank you!
You're doing such a lot for so many readers and writers in the community - not just the Substack community, but in the world at large - and you are deeply appreciated! 💖
Thank you for the work and clear love you put into this. Its month 3 for me on Substack on I've just started crawling out of my own creating cocoon and into this big beautiful community. (Can I subscribe to too many newsletters? We are going to find out.) I'm thrilled that when I mindlessly pick up my phone, I am now immediately sucked into a more mindful space full of gorgeous, heart forward writing and community instead of, oh I don't know, doom scrolling Twitter. ❤️
What an astounding collection of recommendations. You know that I love connecting with this community so it's great to be pointed in a direction of where I might want to read next! Huge thanks to Sarah and Birgitte for the nomination <3
so grateful to be included in this round up, thank you for sharing the love ❤️ it was such a joy to read some of the other articles linked too and the general buzz/ energy in this post! x
We are so thrilled you included Simon Haisell, as we all stand on the threshold of his community readings of 'Wolf Hall' and 'War and Peace'. 'Create Community' writ large.
This is such a lovely celebration of what we love about Substack. Thank you for all the work you have put into it. Happy 'Twixtmas and onwards into the new year. Barrie and JoJo
