You can search anything there! So when Ray passed I searched “grandad” and all the photos of him came up. Also location which I know apple do too but even “tent” works for finding all the tipi photos. It’s still organised chaos in terms of a photo system in lots of ways but it’s clever!! ✨📸✨
Loved these tips! I’ve always used my phone camera too because it’s so convenient to just quickly bring out and snap.
I’ve found symmetry to be really helpful when I take photos and I always have the ‘grids’ feature switched on. Although, I’m most certainly not a photographer, I do really enjoy experimenting with taking photos.
And you’re so right about capturing memories. I’m great at taking photos of my family but I need to have a word with my husband about taking more with me in them 😅.
YES!! I love the grids feature too - what a game changer! I like playing with lining up the subject in the left or right third or if they are too fast in the edit after! I need to play more with symmetry!
Haha yep yep me too! I never like any photos of me really... Unless they are candid/ captured moments Cx
I ended up figuring out how to bring Wordpress blogs over but they didn’t all paste - not sure why so still on the fence about what to do... it doesn’t feel like loss more like growth!
I honestly think I’m so much more confident with photos now and it’s been that daily conscious practise. It’s been such a special project! 📸✨💜🎟🌀💕
I was a journalist for years so I was always working with photographers. One of my favorite tips was that when your subject finishes the “formal” shoot, you lower your camera and just chat so they relax into themselves. Then “shoot from the hip,” meaning the photographer holds the camera at hip-level and secretly snaps away more candid photos. Obviously this was done with 35mm cameras and you have to practice to know you’re getting the right angle, but some of his best pics for the magazine were shot that way. Funny enough, my second novel centers around women photographers in the 1950s and the experienced one teaches the younger one to “shoot from the hip.” Such a fun scene to write! Anyway loved this issue!
My husband's a snapper, and yes, the best candid shot of the day is always when the subject has relaxed the moment the shoot is 'over'! Also: the 'walking away' shot - back to the place where the 'walking towards me from THERE' shot needs to be repeated from. Always great to grab THAT opportunity, too! 😉
I adore this story!! Thanks so much for sharing. I’m going to experiment with this!! Ooo a second novel - sounds enchanting - what’s your deadline on it? Cx
"In my opinion we are so over the days of the thumb stopping image – yep it might happen but sharing your story is so much more interesting and adds depth to help your audience understand you."
Aw thanks Laura. I still feel like I appreciate photography the way I did but I also need more that just the photo now I think for connection?! Happy Saturday to you! ✨🪴
Aw thanks Tanya - I really enjoyed the “magazine” style curation of this one. It takes me longer to find the right images to accompany the words but I really enjoy that process of presenting in a more visual way. ✨💕🎟🌺
Aww thanks Cara! Yes I didn’t know where the piece was going to take me but I wanted more depth and more of the why than I’d original posted. Thanks for the compliments on my photos - that means a lot! I really feel both writing and photography are a craft I can stay committed and connected to. How about you? Cx ✨💜
The purples at the end 🤩🤩🤩
I’m happy you noticed. It blows my mind that I can search photos in google photo by colour ... I’m like look what my eye sees over a year!! 🤯✨💜💜💜🌼💜💜💜
Oh I don't use Google Photo, but love the sound of this!

Such a jam-packed post, Claire - thank you so much for all of it! 🙌
Aw you’re welcome! Thought I’d try this topic “magazine style” and grow into what that could be here... 📸✨💕
I can't believe it's almost been a year. What a lovely celebration. And I love that you've archived your photo tips here. ✨💕📸
Eeek I know! 📅

Oh, I liked these tips about photography 😊 I like taking photos of nature. I’d love to use an actual camera but for now, I too use my iPhone.
Ah nature is SUCH a beautiful canvas - enjoy!! 🍃✨ 🌊

Simply beautiful - thank you - such a pleasure to read whilst I stay in bed (indulgence at its best) listening to the ocean batter the shore.
