I’m all for collaboration and run a guest blog series on my website called This Creative Life. Your post has got me thinking about how I can bring a series into Brand Seasons 💭
I feel like Substack just made it all so much more accessible some how? Like I’ve not really thought about pitching to collab with folk much (unless I know them IRL) - feel of rejection maybe? Everything in good time hey?! Your COT post is scheduled for tomorrow at 8am 🥰✨💌
And you’re welcome to contribute to This Creative Life anytime. Maybe you could write a piece about Substack unless there are other creative loving/working/playing topics you’re keen to explore 💛
Ooo yes I’d love to write on substack and my creative process of finding my voice here. I touched on it in an interview the other day and realised I had so much to say on the process and why it’s suited me so much. When you get chance/ the mood strikes email me some criteria/ word count? Cx
I’m amazed you haven’t asked for changes since I think I wrote it in a post nap and feed haze 😅 and yes I love the encouragement to collaborate here. The feature helps!
Great post, Claire! Numbers? But what's this about numbers? I've obviously missed something!
LOVED this: "...the most authentic, interesting and hard won and special way to grow was to just shine your light." I'm absolutely up for that!
Yay for collaborations! I LOVE collaborating with my fabulous Substack penpal - Terry Freedman and I really enjoy our exchange of letters!
EDITED to say - I've just spotted that it says 'see subscribers'. Thankfully when I clicked on it it said 'this list is private'. Heck, if I wanted a proof-of-popularity contest I wouldn't've left Twitter/Facebook/Instagram!!!! 🤣
If you look at my recent note you’ll see what I mean... 🤦🏽♀️
I click on yours and although you’ve switched your number off it shows me ALL your subscribers! 😞 it’s just WILD what are they thinking?!
But ignoring that and back to Collabs - yay for pen-pals and meeting folks all over the world - I bet you have stories of pen pals from childhood? 🖊️✨💌💫
I don't think there's a better place for collaboration than Substack. It's such a win/win if you can find a common interest with another writer you respect. Not to mention, Claire, stuff like this is valuable to folks learning how to network, taking their first forays into the wild world of writing.
I'm lucky I write every day. I have so many opportunities to collaborate and I want to try out all of them.
Too much of a popularity contest/clique, I think. Here, at the very least, everyone has a growth mindset. Everyone (not literally, but generally) has everyone's interest in mind/at heart.
I love that you always lead through collaborations-- I really think that is such a gift of yours, bringing people together in this space! Another wonderful post, thank you!!
I worked on a co-created project whilst at uni as an internship - there was so much magic in that room and wow what a journey - it was a young people’s film project - so young people, a film company, a creative director and me as creative producer - there were some tough sessions as the young people weren’t in education - their circumstances didn’t “suit” a formal setting but once we were able to hold space for their input on the programme and the way it worked out was all pretty magic overall and I just felt “ok this is the model - this is what to do” - I started and I haven’t looked back. ✨💌💭
I didn't know Substack had made that change regarding the numbers. The thing I like (or I suppose liked!) about Substack is that you chose to share that if you wish. Now I fear the comparison/competition will start to creep in and I'm not here for that ....
Perfect timing for this post, Claire. I’ve had more responses to my call for collaborators than expected, which is a lovely thing, but also overwhelming. I appreciate the thoughtful advice here!
I purposefully didn’t do an open call until now as I wanted to live and breathe it all a few months and see what the identity of it was... one a month is great for me.
Morning, Claire! Thanks so much for the mention, and for articulating many of the thoughts I've been having recently. Definitely agreeing with you on the Substack numbers thing. I love that we haven't been presented this info about others and don't like that it's creeping in...
Another fab post, Claire! I put a call out for collaborators to my new Simple & Calm a interview Series and I’ve had a great response. Im in the middle of editing the responses and putting them into the final post. I’m SO excited to get it out there for everyone to read. Your post has made me question how many I’ll realistically be able to do, and I think one a month is achievable for me. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Have a lovely Friday! 🥰
Oh that’s so brill. Yeah what I found was the ones where I explained my connection to the guest on a deeper level encouraged connection as otherwise it’s just like a passive magazine article - not that we can’t be passive if we feel like it but you know what I mean. Can’t wait to read them Sophie. ✨💌✨
Ahh I’m glad! I’m still enjoying writing them although they do take a bit of time and I’ve been wondering if I’ll have a little summer break... 🤷🏽♀️ happy weekend to you! ✨ 🍃
Belated thanks for the feature. 🥰
Ah all timing is perfect timing! ❤️🫖

It's surprised me, certainly - I'm so glad you drew my attention to it! 🙌

That’s it isn’t it Andrew - it’s easier here - social media made it too gate keeper ish or something?

✨💫💌 that’s exactly it!

Will look forward to seeing yours. ✨🙏💌
Not a fan of the numbers by our profile name, not sure why Substack thought that was a good idea.
I appreciate the time and effort that you take to do these Friday emails! 🤗 I look forward to seeing them each week 💗
Thanks Mackenzie - it’s just silly isn’t it - why are they re in venting it when it works so well?! 👀
Thank you for the mention Claire. 💫
You’re welcome - loved that thread! ✨💫
Such great responses!
I love what notes encourages in us all!

Such a shame! What can we do?! 👩🏽💻💌💕
Keep on moaning about it! 😭😂
It’s worse now they’ve added follows/ unfollows 🤦🏽♀️
I need to get on the desktop version and see...
Yes I’ll tag them in another note I think!
Thank you for recommending. ⭐️
Love this post! Just subscribed to hippy highland living.
I’ve lost many hours on Molly’s YouTube channel!! 🤩✨
