For me, this year is all about slowing down & listening to my heart whispers, breathing in & exhaling gently into creative writing & abundant practices that balance my being 🧡
I’d already decided to focus on writing at Substack; being consistent as much as I can. Then at some magical point this week - Mars going direct? Mercury? Both? Neither?! - I realised what was missing from my long term goal and suddenly it lit up! The first stage is still to focus on writing here and hopefully finding people who like it. If I let my current high enthusiasm take the reins I’ll be totally over the whole thing by Wednesday, so pacing...discipline...steadiness... How WILL I ever do it? 😆
Pacing yes!! I found joining the Substack Office Hours incredibly helpful or just reading the comments. It gave me so much insight into how other writers were feeling and creating here! Good luck Jo - can’t wait to see where we are a year from here!! ✨💫✨
I was surprised to see this post this morning as felt more spontaneous from you... and I loved it! And you can see others have! A successful experiment! Agree on seasonal totally. I’m really experimenting with goal setting this year - to come from time/ money/ output / feelings / where does the core focus come from etc xx
Yes defo shorter (long form) 😆 and more what I usually keep for one to one shares BUT I really wanted to follow up from my workshop so I thought yep I’ll do that. I did a longer more thoughtful one on composting mid week as I find it’s quieter here then although I was more tempted to switch them that was hard... which is more of a Sunday read?! Hmm will keep playing...⚖️
It was such a great workshop, Claire - thank you so much! And you’ve got me all geed up again about my goals with this post this morning - accountability is everything! 😊
Isn’t it- there are so many shiny distractions in life. I noticed in the open office hours people are really shifting into this mindset of let’s make Substack work - it’s interesting isn’t it. I’ve held off on paying for any substacks yet (although I’m so tempted) to make sure I get my own plan running well first... I gave this post less attention than my mid week one as an experiment in writing style - this one felt WAY more exposing to send out... think that might be perfectionism tripping me up there!
I love your retake on SMART goals. The Seasonal and Magical aspects very much align with my creative practice so I’m definitely adopting them. I’m a huge fan of goal-setting as I have my own experience of chronic health issues and it can feel like you never get anything done. Goal-setting really helps with that. Maybe I’ll write a post on that soon x
Thanks so much Sam!! Yes so you get it too... lots of stuff to do always and then the tiny nudges towards the big dream. Do you have goals around Substack too? I really love it here! 🌸💫🌀
I haven't set goals for Substack yet. I wanted to see how long I'd stick with it and what would come out when I shook the box. I'm ready to set goals now.
Ah I hear you!! Yes I feel this new moon has brought more clarity for me too. The winter moons are so special for introspection aren’t they?! Bite size sounds a great plan. I often like to plan a reward if I achieve my targets on things so sometimes a massage or spa day other times just a lone coffee upstairs being in that moment of ahhh I did it! 🌝
I just ADORE your take on SMART goals!

Oh what a wonderful year you will have!! And Thankyou I love a reframe don’t you?! ✨💫
I love your reimagining of SMART goals. I’m going to give that a go.
Yay! And thanks. A kind subscriber wrote to me and suggested TRANSFORM for the last section which I adore!! ✨💫✨⚖️

Perfect isn’t it!! Will re write this for my Spring update 🌀✨💫😍

Perfectionism is a tiresome master!

How exciting! And love that approach. I started here in April and have spent time working out what it can be for me it’s been lovely actually. 💫✨⚖️
