I'm so excited to join this! I focused mainly on Instagram the last 4 years and don't have a big following (less than 4K total on 2 accounts) and lately I've been feeling uninspired to be there—its very noisy and repetitive!

So now I'm really loving the community on substack and feeling drawn to grow a following on this platform. There's so many awesome people here and I love the ability to share many mediums. I'm a photographer mostly but love to write and create guided audio/music as well :)

Pinterest has been on my radar as well. This will likely be my next move. Thank you for everything you share on here!

Oh...to have only one thing to focus on. That sounds blissful. I finally back home and gathering my time and energy once more. I feel pulled in 10,000 directions but I am grateful for this space and your guidance. This is the place I want to be, so I am bringing my creativity and focus here. I have been procrastinating my new name and turning on paid. Not sure why but it's time to make some plans. I'm excited to show up tomorrow.

Claire, I totally agree that focusing on just one ☝️ thing that makes you feel creatively alive and joyous is the goal. 👍🏻☺️ mine is just Substack, and I’m trying to make sure it stays fun. 🤓😎

This is such a lovely idea. If you ever consider changing the day I’d love to come along. Sadly I’m at work on Thursdays.

I’ve just begun to build an on line presence as I am writing my Book “Staying Together”. I have a small FB group, and an even smaller Insta group. Neither of which is linked to Substack.

I’ve focused on building my Substack presence to establish my first readers and reviewers, once I publish. I want to continue to focus on Substack this year.

I’ve published the Intro and two Chapters here thus far. Eventually I will self publish my book on Amazon.

I am considering offering a small subscription fee here, which will entitle my subscribers here to a reduced E book or print book when it’s published in exchange for a written review on Amazon. Is that something others have done here?

I jut felt my entire nervous system relax while reading this. I have been flirting with Substack for a year now but my insta programmed brain could not figure it out the first few times. Now, I'm over, done! with insta and something in me keeps nudging me about substack. I've been logging on here and reading different stacks. I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it actually. A part of me is judge-y/shame-y of myself saying that I'm only 34 I should be able to crack the code on insta/tik tok but I haven't and now no longer want to. Another part of me is judge-y in an outwardly sense that only old/super intellectual peeps hang out on Substack and it might not be the place for me. And I've been thinking about how I get to be the creator of my own slice of Richaness on Substack...

All this to say, I reckon I'm going to focus on substack over the next 6 weeks and see what happens! ***EXCITING****

Thanks for the invite Claire. I am working on building a platform for my writing. Previously dabbled with Ig and fb, with most of my followers on twitter. Writing my first spec fiction novel. I want to focus on substack and try that alongside my website and linkedin

Great, Claire! I grew my Instagram following to almost 15k but eventually gave up due to the erratic algorithm. I didn't like the idea of constantly posting to please the algorithm, and I didn't want to be at the mercy of Mark Zuckerberg. That's why I shifted my focus to Substack, where even if the platform changes, I can take my subscriber list with me. I feel more in control now. I'm also considering posting shorter videos on YouTube. Let's see how my ceramic work progresses. But some behind-the-scenes art videos would be cool to create :)

Oh this sounds like fun! I’m almost ready to put a bit more effort in trying to grow my subscribers here on Substack after a year of consistent posting. Alongside that I’ve been focusing on improving SEO on my website and also have a VA (Sophie ☺️) pinning to Pinterest. Working my way through the website in tandem with focusing on the blog on my website seems to be where I feel happy right now. Having a six weeks focus sounds great.

Thanks for this opportunity, Claire. I am working on "building a platform," as this is one of the requirements, I am told, that agents/publishers consider when they read your book proposal. I am working on a nonfiction book and have been sharing snippets of the ideas here on Substack, Facebook, and X. Growth has been painfully slow, and I'd love to know what I am doing wrong. Looking forward to the session!

Thank you Claire - sounds great. I put my eggs all in one nest as I built my doggy business on facebook 4 years ago. Now I find it far too noisy and no longer enjoy running my groups on FB - so much has changed over there! Plus I have changed as a person. My energy is precious and I crave quiet and more deeper connections. My email list is key so I am not sure which SM platform is best for this?

Brilliant Claire, and I can only agree. I built my first business focusing on Instagram ONLY for 2 years. At 100k followers I added an email list (yep definitely a regret to not have started it sooner lol). At 150k Pinterest but it was largely managed by my husband who grew it to 10M unique views/month and then at 200k followers we added YouTube. So it was a slow progression. And ones the kids came I more or less exited Instagram (200k at that point) and Pinterest has just been turning by itself to be honest.

I more or less only focused on email for the first 3 years of motherhood to nurture the audience we had rather than looking for growth.

Now I’m picking back YouTube (email is consistent) + have added substack as a new creative venture to fuel my inspiration to get back into a creative flow again after some years of stagnation and I’m loving it here ❤️❤️
